This subject also aims to provide the students able to master various Reading texts especially “Islamic Education” and be able to read effectively and efficiently and understand as well as comprehend various English texts. Then, TOEFL Preparation is provided for the students in order to be able to sit for the TOEFL Test. Objective: The students are able to: 1. Find out the topic sentence and context clues 2. The word ‘Islam’ which is derived from Arabic, means to accept, to follow and to obey. The religion of Islam is the acceptance of and obedience to the teachings of God which He reveals it to His last prophet, Muhammad PBUH. In other words, Islam is following God, the Master. God is our Creator and Master. Our success in life relies fully on following the Master. Therefore, we must all obey His commands, either in words or in deeds. But God has let us be free to obey or not to obey Him. Life is like a test. The successful test taker is one who obeys God. In other words, the real success in this life and the life after death is obeying God. True peace also lies only in the following God. The word Islam also means peace. Islam is peace through obedience to God, the Creator and the Master. Islam is a religion from God which leads His followers to gain true peace. Muslims believe in one, unique, incomparable God, Who has no son nor partner, and that none has the right to be worshipped but Him alone. He is the true God, and every other deity is false. He has the most magnificent names and sublime perfect attributes. No one shares His divinity, nor His attributes. In the Qur’an, God describes Himself: Say! “He is God, the One. God to Whom the creatures turn for their needs. He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none like Him”(Qur’an,112:1-4) There are two sources of the religion of Islam. These sources are the Quran and the Sunnah. The Qur’an is God’s words which were revealed to the prophet Muhammad, and the Sunnah is the prophet’s tradition and saying. The Qur’an is a guidance from God for all human-beings. Therefore, God’s words which were written in the Qur’an/ should be read by all human beings. God wants all human beings to be happy in the world and in the life hereafter by giving the guidance and rules written in the Qur’an. Therefore, all people who want to be happy and safe in their life should know what is said by God in the Qur’an. That happiness lies in their obedience to the guidance of God. Of all the possibilities of worship prescribed for us by Allah, the most important one is prayer or as-shalah. Allah says in the Holy Qur’an “Oh believers, seek help in patience and Shalah” (Al-Baqarah 2:153) As-Shalah is usually translated into English as the word “prayer”. This is a poor translation, because the Shalah, while referring in part to the act of prayer or ‘du’a’, is more accurately translated as the complete act if worship that includes prayer. Whereas prayer (du’a) can be offered at anytime and in any situation. Allah has ordered us to observe this act of devotion and prayer called as-Shalah at specific times of day and night while facing in the precise direction of Baital”tiq in Makkah. If we look up all of the verses concerning the Shalah and read what Allah says, we will find that Allah has prescribed five times for our Shalah. Concerning this, our prophet Muhammad PBUH (Peace Be Upon Him) asked his friend (sohabat), “Do you believe that dirt can remain on a person who bathes five times a day in a brook running in front of his door?” “No”, replied the friend (sohabat), “no dirt can remain on his body.” Rosullullah PBUH then said, This is exactly the effect of the Shalah offered five times a day. Moreover with the Grace of Allah it washes away all the sins.” The times of the shalah are in the morning before the rising of the sun, at noon just after the sun has passed its highest point, in the afternoon when the sun begins to incline, in the evening just after the sun has set, and at night when the sky has become dark and the stars shine forth. The performance of the Shalah is a double act of obedience. In implementing our shalah, we obey both Allah and Rasulullah. We really obey Rosulullah and follow what he did, for we know that it was Allah Who taught him how and what to do in order to implement the Shalah. He taught him this during the time of his Night Journey (Al-Isra’) when he ascended (al Mi’raj0 to the highest heaven. He was by the Tree of the outermost Limit ( Sidrat al-muntaha) near the place of the Garden of Ultimate Refugee (Jannatu al-Ma’wa) a place where even the Angel Jibril was unable to go. As-Shalah is an absolutely binding (wajib) commandement of Allah requiring all sane adult Muslims. When we miss the Shalah we commit a grave sin, which must be repented for and then ‘made up’. Even so, we should understand that we are only making up what has been missed in time, but not the actual deed of the Shalah, which is gone forever. Answer the following questions. 1. Y : .................................. dll C. READING Bacalah kutipan berikut . Dari semua kemungkinan ibadah diresepkan untuk kita oleh Allah , yang paling penting adalah doa atau as- Shalah . Allah berfirman dalam Al Qur'an " Oh percaya , mencari bantuan dalam kesabaran dan Shalah " ( Al - Baqarah 2:153 ) As- Shalah biasanya diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Inggris sebagai kata " doa " . Ini adalah terjemahan miskin, karena Shalah , sementara merujuk sebagian tindakan doa atau ' Do'a ' , lebih tepat diterjemahkan sebagai tindakan lengkap jika ibadah yang mencakup doa. Sedangkan doa ( Do'a ) dapat ditawarkan kapan saja dan dalam situasi apapun . Allah telah memerintahkan kita untuk mengamati tindakan pengabdian dan doa yang disebut sebagai - Shalah pada waktu tertentu dalam sehari dan malam sambil menghadap ke arah yang tepat dari Baital " TIQ di Makkah . Jika kita mencari semua ayat-ayat tentang Shalah dan membaca apa yang Allah berkata , kita akan menemukan bahwa Allah telah diresepkan lima kali untuk Shalah kami . Mengenai hal ini , kami Nabi Muhammad SAW ( saw ) meminta temannya ( sohabat ) , "Apakah kamu percaya kotoran yang dapat tetap pada orang yang menggenangi lima kali sehari di sungai yang berjalan di depan pintu rumahnya ? " " Tidak ada " , jawab teman ( sohabat ) , " tidak ada kotoran dapat tetap di tubuhnya . " Rosullullah sAW lalu berkata , ini adalah persis efek dari Shalah menawarkan lima kali sehari . Apalagi dengan karunia Allah itu menyapu semua dosa . " Zaman Shalah adalah di pagi hari sebelum matahari terbit , pada tengah hari tepat setelah matahari telah melewati titik tertinggi , di sore hari ketika matahari mulai miring , di malam hari setelah matahari telah terbenam , dan pada malam ketika langit menjadi gelap dan bintang-bintang bersinar . Kinerja Shalah merupakan tindakan ganda ketaatan . Dalam melaksanakan Shalah kami, kami mematuhi baik Allah dan Rasulullah . Kami benar-benar mematuhi Rosulullah dan ikuti apa yang dia lakukan , karena kita tahu bahwa itu adalah Allah yang mengajarinya bagaimana dan apa yang harus dilakukan dalam rangka untuk melaksanakan Shalah tersebut . Ia mengajarinya ini selama waktu Perjalanan Isra Mi'raj ( Al- Isra ' ) ketika ia naik ( al Mi'raj0 ke surga tertinggi . Dia dengan Pohon Batas terluar ( Sidrat al - muntaha ) di dekat tempat yang taman Pengungsi Ultimate ( Jannatu al - Ma'wa ) tempat di mana bahkan Malaikat Jibril tidak mampu untuk pergi . As- Shalah adalah benar-benar mengikat (wajib ) Commandement Allah mewajibkan semua umat Islam dewasa waras . Ketika kita kehilangan Shalah kita melakukan dosa besar , yang harus bertobat untuk kemudian ' dibuat ' . Meskipun demikian, kita harus memahami bahwa kita hanya membuat up apa yang telah terjawab dalam waktu, tetapi tidak akta sebenarnya dari Shalah , yang hilang selamanya .
